Traditional cruising on small ships. Voted Best Niche Cruise Line by a major British travel publication

Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines operates small ship cruises from UK ports to more than 200 destinations worldwide.  In the winter, one ship is positioned in Barbados for 14 night cruises of the southern Caribbean and Amazon & Orinoco rivers and the Panama Canal.

The line's guests are generally "pre-baby-boomers" who expect excellent service and a traditional cruise experience.

The line is the cruising division of a large Norwegian company that has been in the transportation business since the mid 1800's.  It is not surprising, therefore that many itineraries feature the highlights and lesser known ports of the Baltic, the Norwegian fjords and west coast of Norway as well as Iceland, Greenland, and island groups enroute to same.

Each year Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines offers a very special long duration "epic journey" such as around the world, around Africa or around South America. The Canary Islands, East and West Mediterranean, Adriatic and Black Sea cruises are all featured prominently in the line's itineraries.

Ships:  Black Watch and Boudicca are sister ships originally built for Royal Viking Line as the RV Star and RV Sky. Both ships have enjoyed total refurbishment in 2006 including new engines and other key appointments.  Both ships carry about 800 passengers in classic comfort at speeds to 20 knots.  Braemar, once operated as Crown Dynasty, was refurbished in 2001 and is popular with the 750 passengers on her Caribbean and northern water itineraries.  The venerable Black Prince carries 450 guests who absolutely insist on never leaving home without her.
